how it started
We tried our first pawn loan in Auckland, in 2019, after getting a personal loan application rejected by two banks. Understandably too – we didn’t have stable jobs and desperately needed the money to cover some vet bills and other home expenses. It seemed like an easy enough option.
We put up a motorbike and got $2000 in cash. After 30 days, and on top of the interest, we were slapped with about $500 in establishment fees, early termination fees and some other charges we weren’t told about by the sneaky old man at the office.
We were outraged, but didn’t really have a choice – so we paid. And then we thought “let’s make this easier and better.”
Fast forward to 2023, the post-COVID “recession”, and money is hard to make, harder to get and even harder to keep. So we learnt what not to do from our pawning experiences and we’re now happy to say we do it better.
our goal
As pawnbrokers, we’re aiming to get rid of denying people access to money across Auckland. We’re doing it right. Times are tough, we feel it too, but we try and find the value in everything around us. Surely you’ve got cool stuff lying around your house and garage too, and we can make that stuff print money for you. We are 100% transparent with the loan structures and it really couldn’t get any simpler.

And contrary to most pawnbrokers, our interest rates are lower than those offered by most banks. But, again, we do it better.
No more wasting time with proof of income, and statements, and phone calls and emails. Banks may have time for that, but you don’t… and we don’t. We don’t have a single fee associated with any loans. We don’t even make you sign up for an account (unless you want to be a Lender) so rest assured you won’t be spammed with newsletters… no one actually reads them anyway.
